Hi, I have a 93 ford f150 4x4 5.8 auto with 35,000 miles on it. I have put in a few threads for this, but it goes away and I think i fixed it, but it came back. The noise is a clunking in the front end over bumps. I can feel it in the floor board and think maybe it is coming from the left front. I have newer rancho rs 5000 shocks, all suspension is nice and tight, ball joints good, engine trans mounts good, sway bar bushings ok, crossmember rivets there, I have jacked it up numerous times and can't find anything. Any other ideas? Thanks! The clunking got really bad when I had the truck loaded with people and camping gear if that helps.
Like said the bushings can loook good might still be bad the thumping on the floor board is what gives it away.they don't cost much its like 10or 20 bucks for a set
engine and trans mounts good, put floor juck under them with a board. The bushings look good, when the frame is jacked up and the axle hanging they feel tight. But you have a fantastic point. I guess I just overlooked it due to the low milage on the truck. It's wierd this clunking just happened one day, nothing leading up to it. But It won't hurt to do the bushings anyways. I really appreciate your help. I'll see when my schedule of kids and sports for kids opens up, and replace them. Thanks!
Your welcome.I had to replace mine on my f 350 I used to have.l lived in an apartment at that time. They didn't like you working on cars there .so I kept putting it off till finally when the office was closed I looked and where the radius arm went thru the bracket it had worbled out the hole. it took along time for that to happen.I had to replace the bracket also.l think it was like 50 bucks or so from lmc.
