The RA bushings hold the end of the radius arm to the car. So yes, if worn, they will cause alignment issues. But you have a different suspension in a 98 that doesn't use radius arms...now I am confused.

What damage can be caused by driving (and turning) your truck without having the benefit of power steering?
As I mentioned in another post, the pulley broke, hence I lost power steering and ever since replacing the tensioner and the belt the truck rattles and I can feel it through the steering wheel....Im guessing I damaged something while attempting to turn, and I think it may be some bushing or another?
I can't think of anything to cause damage. No power steering means it's harder to turn the wheel. I'd get in thee and take a closer look araound as to what night be happening.
