3.0 Taurus no start
1999 3.0 Taurus
The car was running parked then it would not start.
I checked for DTCs there are none, but there is a pending code that
I canʻt read with my scanner.
There is fuel at the rail, so I did check the coil, according to my
ohm readings the coil is OUT of range according to a repair manual.
I do hope I read/set up my multimeter correctly though.
DO coils just fail causing he car to not start - all of a sudden?
I plan to replace the coil and crankshaft position sensor first thing
in the morning.

Well I had a Fireturd many moons ago have a coil just crap out. I was driving along and it quit running, I managed to run 2 stop signs and coast home, so it happens, on a Taurus not so sure. do you have a cheapo spark checker?

Just bought a spark tester.
Can't get a spark at all even when testing a new
Coil pack.
I need to test for power to coil now.
Possible dead computer.

Just a suggestion -- check your fuses to see if one of them might be the culprit.
Also the cam and crank sensors would probably cause the same kind of issue.
Good luck,
hj

Replaced crank sensor and replaced well worn sparkplugs.
I checked fuses in the power distribution box.
There is power to the coil, but no start still.
I am going to see if a shop can check the ECM.
There is fuel at the rail, but I can't actually measure
Fuel pressure at this time.

since you have no spark I would start there. Not sure how this computer works but most in cars control the ground side so you may be on the right track.

Checked fuses and relays.
All that is left is possible computer failure.
Checked all visible grounds, but still can't figure out no spark issue.
Other sites all mention grounding failure and PCM failure.
It seams replacing the PCM is least expensive than spending the time
Trying to find the issue.

I guess I would check the ground wire from the coil to the pcm, if you really want to be sure it is good I would take a headlight bulb and put power through the wire, sometimes it will ohm check good (static) but with a load (dynamic) it has too much resistance. Thats if you have the time to fart with it.
