Well this is really weird. When ecer i turn on my headlights the abs light comes on for a like 3 seconds but doesnt leave a code and it also boggs down the motor than picks right back up. If i have just my running lights on it doesnt do that. I had it takin to a shop. And everything came out fine. He reprogrammed the ficm, pcm, and the tcm. It only does it when the HIDs turn on.
I have the same exact issue except for the motor bogging down. The motor may be bogging down because the HID's require a lot of power to illuminate but then go down to 35w or 55w after they are all warmed up. The ABS light may be from the ballast being close to the ABS module (that's what i was told) i have moved them both but they can only move so far.
I've seen this more than once. It used to happen on my 02 V10, but my 01 7.3 is fine (same exact ballasts - I moved them from one truck to the other).
It's the cheap HID ballasts that cause problems. You can try running an additional ground cable from the battery to the body - it may or may not help.

I think it may be the current draw at first. Your 7.3 has two batteries right? So the draw would be as severe on the system.
It has nothing to do with the draw; what is happening is the RF interference from your ballasts are causing interference on with your ECU and the unshielded tuner wiring. Pick up a couple of these and put them on your tuner wire: FERRITE SPLIT BEAD, 7MM I.D. | AllElectronics.com
Don't mean to resurrect an old forgotten thread but I found out a few days ago that my ABS light didn't come on when i turned my lights on if I let my truck run for anywhere from 45s-1min before switching on the lights. I use to gjust get in and immediately turn them on and i have been able to consistently do this without the light coming on.
I always try to allow the charging system time to fully recover after starting, before turning anything HID on. It's easier on the HIDs. They need as much voltage as possible to start up.
It's even more of an issue with my 7.3, as the glow plug system is very power hungry immediately after start up.
I never even thought about giving it that much time to recover i just assumed that it was OK to turn them right on. Good to know its better for the lights though!

Well.... last night it happened. SAME EXACT symptoms.
I'm gonna recheck all the wiring to the HIDs make sure nothing's frayed or crimped.
@grec-o-face. If yours was doing the same thing with mine I found out its the wiring harness. When I bought my first set from hid geeks.com they sent the harness with the plug that plugs into the bulb already attached. Where my other set I bought from my friends vendor came with the plug detached (both plug ends were blue on mine). Well I found out on my first set the wires were mixed up in that plug screwing everything up. The harness is ment for hi and low beam setup. If you have just the low beam then I can't help you on that as I don't have the low beam setup.
However my ABS light still does come on only when my fog lights turn out. From what can tell it doesn't do anything. And an interference at start up of the bulbs.
