A flatbed would be pretty handy for me around the farm.. but I agree, I like the looks of a box much better. Mine is in pretty rough shape, however.. I can save it, but I think it is going to take quite a bit of work, and may not be worth my time. If I can find a cheap enough box to replace it, I will go that route. I have to get the highboy back outside in the sunlight and take a real good look at it to make my ultimate decision.
a good box around here. good luck. any that are for sale around here are 1000 bucks or better. i know of three that are in really good shape one is a camper special box. most of the good boxes got used up in the 90s and early 2000s when everyone was really into these trucks.
I'm ignoring the box for the moment.. Hopefully found a rubber floor that will work in the highboy, just waiting on some dimensions. Going to tackle the floor, and then wheels/tires. It has 16" white spoke wheels right now, I may just clean them up and repaint them.. Tires are proving to be a tougher choice than I would like.. Not much in the way of a tall, skinny tire for a 16" rim.. I really wish someone still offered a 33x9.5.. Not going with interco probably, as they are too far out of my price range and won't last at all on the road.
Monday is going to prove to be a very eventful day for the highboy. I am going to get it insured and licensed and drive it on the road for the first time since I've owned it Wish me luck guys..
I have discovered a few minor glitches, but nothing that is going to keep me from driving her for a while Need to tune the carburetor a bit yet, otherwise it is driving pretty decent for what it is.. Needs new tires, but those are going to have to wait a little while, unless I find a killer deal on some 285/75r16's... Decided to stick with the 33" tires, as they are close to stock height, but selection is pretty decent.
Here is a crappy black/white photo of the truck sitting by our back yard
