Ok, anyone else having problems with the bottom latch not locking on the rear doors on a super cab?
I tried PB blaster with some luck a couple times, but now it don't have any effect. I tried to manually lock it with a screwdriver, it moves freely but does not lock.
With the front doors latching to them, and the bottom not fully locking, my doors are just being held shut from the top of the back door, not to mention shaking and making a heck of a racket when traveling on back roads or rough roads. I dont feel very safe knowing that they're not fully locked, and especially when my wife or kids are in with me.
Anyone know of a way to remedy this or know of a prev. post that describes a fix? I know about the one that the welds came loose and someone put in screws to quiet it down ( already did that ) but mine aren't locking.
thanks.
I don't have a super cab anymore but that would freak me out.
Can you replace the thing? In this case it is not some thing I
would even think about a home brew fix. That latch has
to be replaceable. I would get the part from Ford or if not
from there then a salvage yard. You don't want that door
to pop open in a small accident and you or someone fall out
and get hurt.
yeah, thats what I'm worried about. I was wondering how hard it is to get to it, might just be gummed up or disconnected. I was hoping someone here had anything similar with pics, or a write up.
Do you have any water getting into the door?
It could be rust. Then is could be a lot of things.
I know that the door panels are a headache to
remove. Just take your time.
