when I bought a new 68 truck way back when, the dealer installed the mirrors of my choice, so it must be that your truck never had mirrors installed. I think thats good. you can pick what you want. my 79 has two tanks with the control by the heater A/C controls.
The base "Custom" model came with a passenger style mirror on the driver's door and nothing on the passenger side but your's doesn't look like a stripped model. It looks like it's decently equipped. As for the auxilliary fuel, that was an option.
From the pics it looks like a nice truck, congratulations.
So i got it home it seems to run pretty decent.
its had a bit of recent work , cam , lifters , timing chan and new headers and exhaust.
Needs a good polishing and some better tires and wheels.
It came with a chrome bumper in the box but no brackets?
Its NOT a step bumper s the other kind that doesnt have a hitch or anything.
Anyone know where I might get brackets?
That's the automotive style bumper. No brackets are available. You'll need to either find some at the salvage yard or fabricate a set.
If I recall correctly, the Bronco brackets won't fit.
Here's what you need to put the bumper on the rear. These will only work for the OEM factory rear automotive style bumper (chrome version P/N D3TZ-17906-A)
Brackets:
Fits 73-79 F250-350 w/o step bumper, w/ 117, 133, 139, 155" WB w/ wide frame
RH inner D3TZ-17787-C
RH outer D3TZ-17795-B
LH inner D3TZ-17788-C
LH outer D3TZ-17796-B
No dealer or obsolete supplier has any with the exception of the LH outer (D3TZ-17796-B), JST Atomtive, in Lebanon, TN has 1 (615) 443-3086

Verified... The Bronco's rear overhang is shorter than pickups. Below are modified (extended) mid-80s Bronco brackets. The outer brackets also need to be extended in a similar fashion.
Well Ive been working on new truck and its got a couple of issues giving me trouble.
Its got a new Holley 4 barrel on it and it wont stay kicked down.
It runs to fast , and the only way to slow it down is to kick it dwn like you do the automatic choke.
It idles right down but as soon as you step on the gas pedal it revs up again?
So it makes it kinda hard to drive.
The other thing is the truck heats up at random times.
I took out the thermostat and thought I found the problem , drove around the block with no heating up.
Just as i drove in the yard the guage went over to hot again.
Looked in the rad and can see water circulating so it shouldnt be the waterpump should it?
After it cooled down I let it run and it didnt get hot until it sat there and ran for 20 minutes.
If you can't find any in a junkyard, you can buy them from Blue Oval Truck Parts. They are pricey ($99.99), but it is an option. Good luck and nice truck you've got there. Congratulations!
