Few Questions...
2. It seems like every 64 I have seen pictures of has rectangular tail lights with thin surrounding metal. Mine are round, and the part of the bed they are on is huge. Directly below them is a U-shaped piece of sheet metal which is a bit rotted. Is it possible to buy this piece of sheet metal?
3. ND (among others) told me my wheels are not original. They are 15s. They have 7.00-15LT tires on them. Does this mean the width of the rim is 7"? Also, what size were the original wheels? What did they look like? Did they have center caps?
4. My truck has a goofy cardboard/particleboard headliner. Is this standard?
5. My truck has a domelight. How is this turned on?
6. My 292 has an exhaust cross over pipe. Is it true that you can turn over the driver's side manifold and block the hole for the crossover pipe on the passenger's side manifold, allowing for the construction of a dual exhaust?
Sorry for so many questions, and thanks.
1. - There were different mirror options. I believe the round, stamped were standard and the larger, rectangular were an option.
4. It is my understanding that the original headliners were made of a cardboardilike material. They could be solid or perforated. Whether yours is the original or a replacement is up to you to try and figure out. Maybe you could ask the previous owner if he/she had the headliner replaced.
5. The dome light should turn on by twisting the headlight on/off **** all the way to the right or clockwise. If it does not come on, the wires are disconnected or have been "re-engineered" by a previous owner.
I'm sure someone with greater knowledge will add/correct my responses and answer the other questions for you.

There were at least seven different types and...not one mirror was factory installed, all were installed by the dealers. If mirrors were ordered they were placed in a box at final assembly and put inside the cab-usually on the floor.
Back then, the mirrors you are speaking of were rarely asked for by customers because their rearward vision was limited.
The two most popular types were the painted or stainless Western Jr. Mirrors, and the type painted white with a rectangular head that fit into the slots in the door and could be telescoped.
As part of the new safety standards that went into effect in September 1966, light trucks now had standard equipment: heater/defroster; backup lights; lap seat belts and a left hand rear view mirror.
This was the same el cheapo rectangular head mirror used on Galaxies/LTD's. It wasn't factory installed either. It was placed in the cab at final assembly.
The reason it was not factory installed was...if the customer wanted something else, the holes in the door would have to be filled in and the door repainted.
Most people didn't want that fracatta passenger car mirror, the dealers had dozens of them layin' around, and most ended up in the trash.
Today, this mirror has been reproduced...some repro parts sellers call it the "sport mirror!"
It was anything but.

The domelight works by turning the **** counter clockwise fully...going the other way controls the brightness of the dash lights...
Bill is correct on the mirrors...some of the mirrors have the lil FoMoCo oval on the glass but most had it on the backside of the metal mirror head itself...depending on the amount of paint you may have to look closely for it...typically in the upper or lower end center...depending on how the head was set...similar location on the round head...but its there in similar location...
The headliner is 4 pieces on the Custom Cab trucks and perforated(lotta lil holes) and is 2 pieces and not perforated on base model trucks.
The material is a fiberboard type material and typically sags in the areas above your noggin and in the area by the visors...there should be a handful of clips up there to hold it up. The Custom cab models also get the aluminum door edge finish mldgs on the inside which use different screws then the headliner itself.

No one has any...but be aware these are standard parts (hardware items). Dealers usually didn't inventory standard parts, so there may be 100's of both of these layin' around in a standard parts bin at your local dealers.
Some repro parts sellers reproduce next to nothing. They are middleman operations, use the J. Paul Getty method of making money.
When the orders come in, they use your money to buy the parts elsewhere, then ship them to you.
I think I want to do the little round mirrors. Even though they are less practical, they look better (I think). I have one bad tire (cracked sidewall), it's a Goodyear- went to get one from Goodyear- they have ONE left (tire has been discontinued)- it's $195. That's why I asked the question about the wheels, to see if there was a better metric size that would be easier and cheaper to come by.

and the larger, rectangular were an option.
