Turn signal switch

So I found out I need to replace my turn signal switch. Looked up the part from National Parts Depot and discovered they offer for my year and truck (1978, A/T, fixed column) a turn signal switch assembly or a switch assembly "replacement". The replacement being $42 cheaper. What's the difference between the two? Do I just need the replacement? Any help would be awesome. The NPD part numbers are F-13341-11 (switch assy) and F-13341-11A (switch assy replacement).

How much is the non replacement switch? If it's roughly $110.00, it's genuine Ford / The replacement is probably an autoparts store generic "fitz-all."

Genuine Ford parts / 1978/79 F100/350, Bronco & Econoline:

D8TZ-13341-A .. T/S Switch ~ Use with Tilt Column / Obsolete ~ 14 available NOS

D8TZ-13341-B .. T/S Switch ~ Use with A/T with Fixed Column / Available from Ford / Memphis TN Ford parts depot has 123.

MSRP: $110.00 // FTE sponsor tousleyfordparts.com price: $72.60.
----------------------------------------------------------------
D8TZ-13341-C .. T/S Switch ~ Use with M/T with Fixed Column / Obsolete ~ 18 available NOS

Fixed Column = No Tilt Steering Wheel / Some people are unaware they have a Tilt Wheel, because it's operated by pushing the turn signal handle...forward.

The non replacement is $110 and it states that it is an original part. I'll check with the tousley ford site. Thanks!

Tousley Ford = White Bear Lake MN / Look at their discounted price again. Their website was down, I guessed that their discount price was $77.00, but it ain't.

Website is back online, their price is: $72.60.

MSRP: Manufacturers (FoMoCo) Suggested Retail Price: $110.00.

NPD is buying the switch from a Ford Dealer, probably at cost + 10% = $72.60!

Often times with turn signal switches, you can buy the entire switch, or just the cam for much cheaper (which is also the part that breaks the most). However, the price difference is usually much more than $42 - so maybe that's not the case here.

Nonetheless, I recommend replacing the entire switch instead of splicing in a new cam. The wiring in turn signal switches is too tight and must snake around too many corners for a solder splice to make it in there without getting caught.
