Appreciate the information!! Looks like I will have to do some research comparing the dissadvantages and advantages between 65-66, 67-72, and 73 to present 4x4 power trane. I would like to stay with year vehicles where DMV does not want to peak under the hood. Again, thanks for the input!!.

It's my understanding, which can vary depending who you speak to at DMV, in Ca. vehicles 72 or 73, are exempt from smog certificate. Also, both vehicles in question are required to have a valid title and the year of the chassis is what the owner has to register?

Same in the state of Oregon, but no smog on the east side of the Cascade Mts.

Model year 1975 and older are exempt from smog in Kalifornia,,,, and as I have found in the past,, the less info DMV gets,, the better,,,although,, I would keep them pretty close as far as frame and body,,, and it also depends on your DMV,, I use the one in Mariposa,,, lot more common sense than other places I have used,,,

Tennessee as long as the body is 74 or older you don't have to do anything other than go pay for the license plate. And that's only in certain counties. Macon county has no inspection room whatsoever no matter what year the vehicle is.
