Just wanted to say hello and tell y'all a little about my ride. I'm working on my 65 f100. My father and I took a stock truck with the 352 automatic 2wd. We've replaced alot of metal and done quite a bit of body work. Set the body on a 1986 4x4 chassis (this was a job) it has a 302 with a 500 edel on it and a 4 speed tranny that has granny low. I have 67 tail lights for it because they had the reverse lights. Using a 66 grille. Installed a steering column from an 87. Has power breaks, power steering, hydrolic clutch, independent front suspension, disc brakes in the front, true duel exhaust with hedmann headers. I have put alot of work in this truck over the last few years but this is just the beginning. I have BIG plans for the old girl. Any questions feel free to ask. . . I know I'll be asking alot.
Welcome to FTE!! I would be interested in seeing pic's of your ride, setting the 65 body on a later model 4X4 chassis sounds like a great project and worth the effort. When time permits, and that's a big when, been considering doing same to the 65 w/ the long wheel base. If so, I will probly look for a donor up to 73, after that DMV requires a smog certificate . Again, welcome to the Family of Ford Truck Enthusiast, looking forward to your input and post pic's when you can!!.

Thanks. I'm about to give it a try. Remember my truck is still in the construction process. . I wouldn't call it restoration bc its TOTALLY custom. I plan on about a 4'' lift with 33's
Yes, 'photobucket' rocks!!. Looks like a work in progress. IMO, best to concentrate on getting the truck machanically sound; brakes, suspension, power trane, etc., and deal with cosmetics later.
The truck runs like a top right now. The lift and tires is just a little extra fun I wanna have when I get the money. As for the motor swap I plan on doing I want to yank the built motor out of my maverick and paint it up again and POSSIBLY a little more work performance wise before I set it in the truck (preferably a 331 stroker kit)

Curious, was there very much refab involved by shortening, or adding metal to the chassis, or body?
From what I can remember we had to shorten the back of the frame to fit the bed. I'm fabbing the bumper horns right now bc I dont like the bumpers from teh 86 and the 65 frames are a little narrower than the 86. I had to relocate every body to frame mount INCLUDING cutting the mounting bracket for the front cab mounts off the 65 frame and bolting them to the 86 chassis. . . I could have used the chassis out of a 70's model I got laying around BUT all of them I have 4x4 are straight axel and I LOVE the way the 86 IFS rides any other question feel free to ask. . . my struggles are a way for me to learn and teach others
