Instrument light flashing?
My instrument / dash lights flash on every 3 seconds, very VERY consistently every 3 seconds. The reason I am stressing the consistent part is that every time I search for this problem I get threads about the bad solder on the instrument circuit panel. A bad solder would not flash every 3 seconds so consistently!
When the instrument / dash light flash on, it is only for a split second, so very quickly on then right back off. When this happens, my odometer readout dims and almost blanks. I have a voltmeter and when I hooked it up I noticed the volts in the truck drop from about 14 to around 12.5, but again the "pulse" is very quick and hard to read.
The tail lights work and I have no blown fuses, so it is really just the instrument / dash lights that are having this problem.
I also noticed that with the key off and lights on, the "lights are left on" chime only chimes once every 3 seconds... shouldnt it be about 2-3 times per second? It seems to be a very slow chime for "lights left on" warning. Could this be related?
Any suggestions? This one has me completely stumped for the past three weekends of diagnostic work...
