Well a mysterious oil leak has oil dripping from the oil pan to tranny area. it only leaks the first few minutes after i shut my truck off after a drive lasting atleast 10 min or so. i checked the hpop lines snap fittngs where an oring had let go before causing similar symptoms. the top of the motor and turbo all look dry minus the valley where a small ammount always seems to build up. anyone have any ideas, rear main is hopefully not the problem :/
Oil in the valley means you have a leak, the drain hole is in the back of the engine and it drains down the back between the engine/tranny. It looks like a rear main, but that is extremely rare on these engines.
Check out the HPOP/fittings if it's in the front, and the turbo pedestal/turbo for leaks. Mine was leaking from the turbo pedestal and the EBPV in the pedestal. Clean it up, locate, and fix. The turbo is not that hard to remove if you can follow directions and are handy with a wrench. Takes .5-1 hour to remove, and about the same back in.
My vote is the EBPV actuator in the pedestal also as shown in pictures above. I just deleted my EBPV and put a van pedestal on it to get rid of this leak.
How many miles are on your machine?

Check here also. It may be rare, but it happens. It is a plug on the left front, right beside the HPOP. It is an oil pressure check valve, and has an O'ring on it.
well good bad news found my leak it is the EBPV actuator if you drive the truck for about 30 min.s and then that a light under the turbo pipe and look under the turbo and you can see the oil running down
I have the same deal going on......but the kick around is the valley is dry and also so is the pedestal....Had my uncle take a look at it a while back and he thinks it could be the oil pan leaking....
well my vally looked wet but did not feel wet and the pedesta was dry untill i drove it and when i stoped with motor runing i started looking and thats when i found it the oil runs off fast do to the heat from the turbo it hard to see under there but you can

Ancient chineese secret is that pulling turbo and pedestal will not require engine removal.
Oil pan leak require engine removal unless you want to cut cross member and re-weld it back together.
The oil from the EBPV actuator in the pedestal leak will only be in the very back of the valley near the drain(hole at back of valley on passenger side) hole that dumps to the back of the engine between the oil pan and transmission to make it REALLY LOOK like a oil pan leak. 95% chance that it is the EBPV actuator in the pedestal.
I wonder how many people have pulled the engine and re-sealed the oil pan to only realize that the pedestal was leaking at the EBPV actuator after they already pulled the engine
I am sure they will not admit it.
