Electric Fuel

Finally sick of my leaking fuel bowl and think im going to go ahead with electric fuel. Havent stared any thing yet, just doing some research and getting some ideas. Is there any advice, tips, tricks or opinions anyone could share? I have read all the links on the Tech/mod info page for this mod. Where would be the best place to tap into power for the fuel pump. I like the oil pressure idea. Would like to start ordering parts next week.

Sorry for the rambling just alot on my head and i would like to be prepared. Thanks in advance.

How can i be sure or better my chances of the plunger not falling out when removing the mechanical fuel pump?

Turn the motor over by hand untill the pump lifts up.

When I did mine, I had to actually pull the plunger out. Just give the pump a couple wiggles in place and slide it straight up. Of course every truck is different. E-fuel has been really nice since I put mine in.

Anyone have a international part number for a complete fuel bowl harness. My IPR wires are toast. Found a number for the pigtail but I'd like to get the whole thing if I can.

If you want you can eliminate all 3 of the sensor wires on the fuel bowl. My ipr wires were toast, all melted together, etc. I got a new pigtail and just cut and taped off the other three wires close to the plug on the fuel bowl. They are just water in fuel sensor, fuel filter sensor, and fuel bowl heater. Most have the heater unplugged anyway as it shorts and blows the pcm fuse. If you change your filter and drain the bowl like you're supposed to, you don't need the other sensors. No lights come on in the dash.

Just another option if you want to go this way. Here is what my wires looked like. Picture isn't the best, but the wire tore from the insulation all over the place seperating them.

I don't have a part number if you want it though.

Mine looked pretty close to that. The morning i went to start this project the truck wouldnt start. Im guessing the heavy diesel leak on the IPR wires finally did it in over night. Guess ill just get the pigtail and wire it in.

IIRC the connector of the UVCH is the same as the IPR, so if you have one lying (spl?) around, you can use it.

About the plunger is recommended what was mentioned above: Turn the motor over by hand untill the pump lifts up, but be sure that the TDC its a 11´o-clock. JFYI when I changed my fuel pump the old one never lifted up alone.

I do not have an extra around unfortunatly.

My pump is out....the plunger came flying out with it and landed in the valley. Got lucky i guess.

At what pressure should i be looking to set the regulator once everything is hooked up? Also, I got Aeromotive regulator 13109. There is a vacuum fitting on the regulator that can be run to intake manifold pressure to adjust fuel pressure while the engine is running. Is this neccesary to hook up?

I have mine set at 70 psi. I have a mechanical gauge on the front of the Fpr and a digital in the cab. Makes it nice for adjusting the fuel pressure and monitoring it while driving. I didn't connect the vacuum line just left it. I just did what I was told. Lol
