I know that it is not that cold out yet.
This will be my first winter with a diesel
What guidelines do I need to go by for adding
things to the fuel? I currently use the the
Ford cetane booster PM-22-A I think is the
part number.
Western Washington does not get that cold most times.
But it does some times.
Just wanted to get a heads up on this.
So what do I add and when do I add it ?
Thanks
I think Ford has the same type additive that is formulated for winter.
Diesel Kleen white bottle is for winter.
I will start using the white bottle when the temps in Central Oregon start dropping below 30*. The reason I do this, is I never know when I'm going to need to travel over there. I want to have my fuel prepped prior to going, without thinking about the temp.
For where you are, there will probably be a couple weeks you might need to worry, but by then the fuel should be made to be ok down to the temps you will see.
Unless of course you head over the mountain to the east side.
How cold does it get? Most cold weather climate areas have anti-gel already in the diesel fuel(depending on where it comes from). Those stations that don't get it, have to add it on their own or risk gelling the fuel and not being able to sell it. I have never added any type of anti-gel in my truck and have had the truck sit out in -20 degree weather with
-50 degree windchill for 12+ hours. I've always plugged it in, and ran it twice/day in these conditions, while using 5w-40
DK is great, and the smell of it drives the lady's wild!
White bottle and a splash as after shave, end up with a good running diesel and some lady friendcant beat that.

Funny you say dogs
Thinking of an Ex-girlfriend there. and what she has tuned into.
Anyway normally around here all we see is low 40's to high 30's
But when it hits we get ice, snow and stupid drivers.
Trees fall power goes out and stuff like that and still more stupid
drivers.
I use an additive with every tank. Either Ford Cetane or Howes. As the sulpher content in pump fuel goes down the additives help lubricate the injector pump also.
