Got a 96 5.0 f150 and just put a cold air intake on and could already tell a difference but I was sent two cones and as of now I have one
Hooked up.. My question is if I hook up both cones one on each side of the y piece of the intake will I gain or lose anything
To be honest, you never gained anything by putting in that ""cold" air intake you bought. The truck already had a true cold air intake from the factory. That's what that pipe running from the bottom of the filter box to the top of the radiator does. By having those cones with no box around them in the engine bay, you actually made it WORSE due to it now just sucking in hot engine bay air... If you really want a cold air intake, return the one you bought, get an air box from a 4.9 or 7.5 truck and put that in. It pulls cold air strait in from the grille...
Not unless those little filters are somehow sealed off from the engine compartment so they can draw in cold fresh air from the hood scoop. Otherwise the engine is heating up the air faster than your hood scoop can shove in or draw out air, depends on which way it faces and where it is placed.
Your truck is a 1996 F150 w/5.0L engine, you should have had a MAF meter attached to the side of the factory airbox. How in the world are you using these cone filters with the MAF meter? Pics would be nice....
The metal section of the air tube that the mass air is mounted on is still hooked up.. The sensor is on the inside of the tube and it's still
Hooked up as a part of the intake.. So should I hook the other one up or not?
