my friend and I were brainstorming one day and we though of that. We were thinking about us coiled copper tubing to run refrigerant through to chill the surrounding air in the duct.
Back in my youth, you know the dark ages. We ran a fuel line made of copper tube, coiled in a large coffee can filled with ice. This made the fuel denser for more power, along with a hood scoop for cooler outside air. Making the air colder would do the same thing, that is why outside air inlets were invented, cooler air than in the engine compartment. Try it but you will probaly not make more power as the A/C compress will rob as much power as you make.
It sounds like an interesting plan but I would have to say that by running the AC you would definately lose the extra power that you added. The easiest thing to do for more power would be a fenderwell intake or the standard ram air. There is plenty of places in the truck to pull in cooler outside air.
A snorkel is a good idea, because it is dual purpose. It serves as cold air intake and you don't have to worry about getting flooded out. It would be an excellent option for an offroad 4x4 rig. I was thinking about trying to make a home made ram air for my F150. I was just going to try to reroute the air intake to the outside. Has anybody made anything home made for their truck. I would love to see pix.
