My front axle fawr is 5200 my rawr is 6800 so I guess my gvwr is 12030. the truck wieghs around 9700 so this means I can haul 2330 is this correct ? I have overhead camper at 1700 am I overloaded ?
The GVWR is based on a few things, axles are included but there is more to it.
One must also take into account your wheels, tires, suspension, drive train.....it is a comprehensive list. In your case, your axles may be good to 12030, but what if your tires are rated to support 8000? What if your wheels can only support 6000?
The easiest thing to do is to look at your door sticker.
As you can see, this will tell you your GVWR (without having to resort to math) and your cargo capacity. We can also tell you your axle ratio, if you tell us the code listed under AXLE.

That is not correct , Those weights are what each axle can carry, you cannot add the two up to get the GVWR . Like redford said it is on your door sticker.
I have a fgawr of 6000#, rgawr of 6100#, and gvwr of 9800#. There is no direct way calculate gvwr just from your axle ratings that I know of, because the gross rating accounts for a lot of other variables (including state tax laws). I run 4900# front and 3500# rear empty, so I have a legal capacity of 1400#.
What kind of truck do you have that weighs that much? 10K lbs is getting into F450/F550 with aftermarket bed territory for an empty weight.
I wondered the same thing. My F-450 weighs about 9700 lbs empty, however it's RAWR is 11,000 lbs. I think F-550 trucks have a rear axle rating around 15k lbs. I am not sure what truck the OP has but it's pretty heavy...
My sc/sb weighs 8400# empty, an 8' service bed on a SRW can come in at 10k easily.
But that makes zero sense since he's talking about an in-bed camper. Aux fuel tank and some aftermarket bumpers, or maybe counting the family loaded up into the 9700.

What is the RAWR? I thought F450's were good for 15k and the F550 were good for 19K. Mine is registered for 8K empty, the lady at the MVD commercial counter registered it for me and put the weight in with out asking me. When I looked at the old registration papers that came with my truck from its prior life as a PG&E truck it was registered for 30K. It is just over 11k empty and was close to 14K the last time I was over a scale. That was almost a year ago.

Your utility box is pretty heavy. I think I remember seeing a lifting boom also...
I took my truck to the scales when I first bought it and I think it was 9700 lbs with just me and an empty bed. Now that I've added the headache rack, the air ride hitch, generator and filled the bins with stuff I went back and weighed it again. With no driver or passengers and 20 gallons of fuel it was just shy of 11,000 lbs (if I remember correctly). Towing the RV with a full load of fuel and passengers puts me right around 29k lbs GCVW. These things get heavy in a hurry....
'99-'03 F-450 trucks have RAWR @ 11,000 lbs and GVWR @ 15,000 lbs (2WD or 4WD)
'99-'03 F-550 trucks have RAWR @ 13,500 and GVWR will be 17,500 lbs (2WD or 4WD) or 19,000 lbs (2WD only).
Here are some pages from the specifications manual...

Now that you say some thing about it, I think the empty weight was before I even mounted the boom....Yes they do get heavy fast. I think I will stop off at a scale at the rock yard on the way home, and see where it is at right now.
I have had a lot of people at work say that my truck is squatting a lot more then usual, I guess I should actually mount the airbags I bought 2 years ago..
