I have a 1999.5 350 cc psd long bed 4x4, I am wondering what the approx rear axle weight is. I don't have a scale close by to get an actual weight. I am looking to buy a new slide in truck camper and I need this info. I know from the last time I went to the dump that the truck weighs 7960 but I didn't think to get the individual axles weighed. If anyone can help I'd be forever grateful.
Why would you want the weight of the axle itself.
You want to know what the rear axle is capable of carrying or payload of the truck.
should be a sticker on door jamb listing gross rear axle weight.as well as front axle
I will chk fleet for specs or better yet go to the top of this page and click on the sticky post.go in the thread click on the truck look for weights and payload that will tell you what you can carry for a slide in .

I am looking for the actual weight of the rear of the truck measured at the axle. The reason is that I know what the rating is but I don't know what the actual weight is. I have to knbow this to determine how heavy the camper can be without overgrossing either the axle or the tires.
On edit here is whats up there f350 cc longbed 4x4
9900llb gvwr has 3755 front axle rating and a 2326 lb rearaxle rating totalof 6603 rating equals a 3,815 payload .
Take a look up inthe sticky

epd99, THANK YOU, that is what I have been looking for. I don't much worry about the gvwr as much as I do the individual axles. as long as I am close to axle weight rating, with the air bags and ranchos and the proper tires which by the way are the weak link, I feel pretty safe on the road as long as I know that I am not going to lose an axle at 70 on the hiway.
Take a look I edited my post to reflect what is on the chart.
You should be concerned with gvwr because if they pull you over and your over the that # its a big $ fine. IN our wonderful state now they are begining to crackdown on over weight vehicles.

so far our weight police are only concerned with the commercial trucks. If the numbers are right then I'll only be about 1560lbs over gvwr yet still be in compliance with individual axels and tire ratings.
the camper that I am thinking of buying is about 3300lbs wet. anyone hauling this kind of weight? My tires are 315/75/16 with a tire rating of 3195 at 65lbs.
