I also bought the Meguiar's DA polisher separate http://www.meguiars.com/en/automotiv...tion-polisher/ -- much cheaper than buying the bundle in Amazon.

I tried this system on my Lexus LS400 over the weekend (lots of swirl marks on it) and it worked great. I'd say 75% of the heavy swirl marks are gone. I think I need to apply more pressure on the DA to completely get rid of all the swirl marks. That was my first time using it so I was afraid to damage the paint. I will try it again before I store the LS400 for the winter.

I'm planning on applying this system to my Ex this weekend and I will definitely use more pressure this time to smooth out the paint.

Any experience on this Meguiars system?

Form the videos I've seen on youtube, guys pressing really hard on the DA with no paint damage which is amazing since you can never do that with a rotary polisher.

And If I need a DA sander this will also come in handy.



By the way, here's a detail shop local to me and this is what he charges people to get rid of swirl marks -- its super outrageous if you ask me. I accomplished pretty much the same results using the Meguiar's system. I sure I will even have better results once I have more experience under my belt.

Are you saying you got it from the Meguiar's site and it was cheaper? I could always drive by and we could test it out on my Ex first.... j/k.

 

I have a similiar DA Polisher only I purchased it from Griot's. I have cranked on mine so hard that it stopped. Griot's advertises theirs to not damage the paint.

Polished the Ex a couple weeks ago with it and want to do it again to work on other scratches. Thenk I have a Shelby GT500 and a GT convertilbes to do.

 

I got it thru Amazon from 2 different vendors. I've seen some packages from other sites that were at least $70 -80 more than what I paid for mine all together.

You can't buy it directly from Maguiar's site. You have to find a dealer.

You can certainly use my DA but bring your own polish compounds.

The Porter-Cable 7424 is the gold medal standard for DIY, impossible-to-damage-your-paint polishers.

Thats an awesome Pic Stewart, how long did it take you to get to that point?

 

Ugh, that was around 5 years ago.

I did it in several stages, not all at once, but if I had to guess, I'd say close to two hours of actual buff time for the whole roof.

Spider swirls like this though....



Were taken out in like five minutes.
