Does anybody have any experience with this stuff. I remember my uncle using it a long time ago when he was painting cars. It's a thick liquid with alot of grit in it. He would put it on old dull paint after wetsanding and then use a buffer with the glazing compound and get a nice shine. Is this still used or are there better products now?

It is used all the time. Common practice is to wetsand clearcoat and then the sanding marks are buffed out. My favorite happens to be Presta. 3m, Meigurs, and numerous other companies make it.
It comes in various grits. For just bringing back the shine to a dull paint job, you would want a very mild abrasive. Meigur's (however it is spelled) has an excellent web site and support.
They have a great system, that should be available at the better parts stores, or your local paint jobber, if they dont have meguiars brand, they will have something similar that they can recomend.
