I purchased the kit this afternoon and found a 10MM x 1.0M adapter that looks almost like the IDI glow plug with a quick connect fitting on it to fastened to the right angle fitting on the rubber hose.
Will this adapter not work? It does have a valve core stem in the cylinder end that I would think would need to be removed to get a valid reading, unless I don't understand how it works.
Can this adapter be used or will I need to obtain the parts you itemize in the above link.
I know I am posting on this forum even though I have a 89 F250, and soon to be getting an 89 F350 that I will want to do a compression test before I start dismantling this 89 F350.
Would appreciate your feedback as I have never attempted a diesel compression test, only gasser's.
That adapter hits the rocker arm/hold down bolts. That is why you need to get a 10mmx1mm fuel boss male to 1/8 inch npt female, A grease whip/hose with 1/8 inch npt males on each end because it is flexible.....it will work and not hit rocker arms, a 1/8 npt coupling(1/8 inch npt female on each end), then you will be able to screw your 1/8 inch npt male fitting with quick connect on the other end to complete the set up. You will have to find the fittings at a hose/fitting supply house like Parker fluid air or a hose shop that also sells fittings. You may need to purchase a 1/8 inch female coupling from lowes or home depot or some hardware store along with a small tube of rector seal #5 soft set for all of the fittings except the fitting that screws into the glow plug hole.
I hope all of this makes sense.

Thanks, hugger94
If you are doing a compression test on the IDI, I think the HF kit actually has the correct fittings, maybe even the injector fitting.
The valve core is to hold the pressure in the gauge so that the pressure can be viewed, otherwise you would have to stop the piston directly at TDC on each one, or carefully view the pressure go up and down.
