GP compression test adapter

Who would be interested in a proper compression test adapter for the Harbor Freight unit? People say that the adapter contained in the $30 kit isn't long enough to snap the QC on it, as it hits the rocker arm.

I'm gonna make one from steel for me (even though I ordered the grease whip and ORB x 1/8 pipe work around.) I notice the adapters in the kit all have a Schrader valve...how important is that?

I can make them in steel, brass or even SSTL. They have a 3/8" hex to tighten them and the quick connect so you can use the HF gauge & hose.

Paybacks are biatch...

I have to get a job or two out of the machine, then I can get started. Has somebody have any intel on how much longer it needs to be to clear? My truck is on a road trip.

Great offer, the shrader valves are what keep the pressure to the gauge so it doesn't drop back down, working on them with no help, you can just crank to keep an eye on the rise, then check the peak since it is retained.

The nice thing about the small diameter whip and small M10 ORB fitting is the flexibility to thread into the GP hole on all 8 without interference with rockers or pushrods.

I was hoping that where the pressure relief button is would have one as well. Now I have to track down a tap for the Schrader valve. I "think" it's #12-36tpi

So you just watch the peak when you are using the M10 ORB fitting?

I don't think there is a check valve on the gauge portion anywhere, could be wrong though...

I usually have it pointed towards the windshield so I can see the climb, but can't actually read the exact pressure after 3 or 4 revolutions then observe the peak pressure, I just want to see them all build about the same and peak within a reasonable percentage.

Mine has a schreader in it as well as a valve in the gauge. IMO the schreader will keep the line to the gauge pressurized making the extra volume of it not effect final compression readings. If that makes sense

Yeah...I'll incorporate the schrader valve....I figure it should just install like an extra long GP. Should seal the same as well.

I wouldn't mind having one. Bought a diesel compression test kit but have not tried it yet to see if it would work.

I'd also like to have one. I need to change the other half of the GP's and then I could do a compression test before buying injectors. Been wanting to do this for a real long time. Just PM me with the price when done, done deal.

I would like to know, from those with the HF kit, how much longer it needs to be to clear? Or I'll just make one an 1" longer and another 2" longer and see what gives when I dive under the VC's on mine. I located a short piece of mild steel hex, so that's what they'll be....like a 5' piece. So however many that yields, is what the qty will be. Maybe a dozen or so.
