Glow Plug Controller short cycling
I now have 2 IDI's with the same problem, one is 1991 with the 7.3 IDI, and my new truck is a 1990 with the 7.3.
Both trucks are having the same problem, on initial start up, the WTS light comes on for 1-3 seconds then I can hear the clicking from the controller. definitely not long enough to heat it up.
I put a new controller in both trucks thinking that was the problem, but did not cure it.
My 1991 has all new glow plugs and controller and they are connected, the 1990 I just bought and has the same problem, only thing I did to it was change the controller.

Usually when this happens, it's because there is 2 or more glow plugs burnt out, but the 91 you say has all new plugs?
What kind are they?
And only thing I can think of is a bad ground, or the wiring harness is bad, giving the same effect as burnt out glow plugs.

On the 1991, I installed Motor Craft Beru ZD 9's.
I know my 1991 has the original wiring harness, I nothing about the 1990 as I literally just bought it, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the original harness.
I took the 1990 to the front end shop this morning for King Pins and Tie Rods, when I get it back (Hopefully) later this week, I will have the chance to check out the wiring harness with my multi meter.
