Glow plug help!
Hi all I'm new here I have a 85 f250 6.9 It has 1109 autolites I was wondering if a previous owner changed the the glow plug harness I'm also looking for glow plugs that match the 1109s thank you for the help

Welcome. You should have Motorcraft ZD1s in your truck. Motorcraft and Beru glow plugs are the only ones that won't swell up and sieze in the heads.

If your glowplug harness was changed to the new style it would run Motorcraft ZD9s. The ZD1s have a spade style connector while the ZD9s have a bullet style connector.

Thank you for the reply my main problem is the truck had the autolite 1109s in it when I bought it the zd1s will not work for some reason and ideas?

why will the ZD-1's not work? is it a different connector on the wiring?

If the Autolites are still in the truck you can safely remove them by spraying them liberally with PB Blaster for a week and loosening/tightening the glow plugs a litlle bit each day. This is how I removed glow plugs without damaging them. I think there's a thread with more tips but this worked for me.

The connetors must have been charged by the previous owner I'm not sure where I can find the proper connectors also I'll use the PB blaster I won't be doing that for a month or so I've still got snow at my place and thank you to everyone for helping a new guy

I don't think they would work the connectors on my only seem to hook up to the 1109 outolites

Any idea where I could find those salvage yards here either don' have the trucks the one I found wants to sell the whole motor only

Last question I promise when I change to zd9s can I still run the glow plugs via the key?

yep it doesnt effect your glow plug relay
