Heres the low down on my 79 f100. I was installing a aftermarket stereo in her and got to starting the engine a few times. First three starts not a lick missed on the fourth all I got was Click Click! No Start, No turn. I Have since replaced the Solenoid and the Starter, still "click click", I am pretty stumped here as the truck still gets juice all the lights come on etc. But she wont start! What am I missing here? Someone please help
It must be a battery cable connection problem. Check the cables for cleanliness and tightness. Be sure and check the ground cable to the engine connection.
Can you jump start it? If so, the battery is going bad.....
Thanks for reply.
Tried jumping it, nothing. The cables are pretty dirty as she sat up for the last 4 yrs before I got her. I tried running a new 4 gauge wire from the solenoid to the starter, still nothing Just "click click" Wife said she saw smoke coming from the negative post on the battery one time when I tried to start it
It just sounds like you have a battery cable problem or a battery problem. I would take off all cables, clean them thoroughly, wire brush and reassemple. Charge the battery and give it another whirl. If the battery is low, everything can still work but the battery won't provide the starter with the necessary ooph to turn over that big FTE.

The most important thing you can do is to make sure your GROUND connections are good. To the body, frame and block. If the battery is not properly grounded you'll have nothing but trouble. And by your wife's observation, I am sure that this is what your trouble is. Clean up your grounds and replace any wires that look weak.
replaced all the cables and battery, Veerroom. Thanks for all the imput. I had tried jumping it so I didnt think the battery was the prob, will know better next time.
P.S..... I had the same problem and replaced the cables and I thought it fixed it, but it was a faulty connection to my ignition switch, it was a yellow wire. going from front to back it was my positive battery cable went to the ignition switch and then the yellow wire, really dirty green and black wire and then the cable to my starter, if the yellow wire is not connected it will click but nothing will happen...Just somthing to keep in mind for the future.
