I can sure agree with you there. The Mercury half ton is highly sought after, on both sides of the 49th parallel. This truck looks very restorable for someone with the space to do it.
Those grilles are fairly fragile too, the bars being of stainless steel. I bought a complete front grille from a '47 1/2 ton that was parted out several years ago, the go for about 3 times the price of a comparable Ford grille.
I have A 47 Mercury pickup that have decided to sell after 45 yrs of trying to restrore it.finally drove it this summer and a valve broke, removed top of the valve and backed it into its own garage..started on it with best friend in 1967.its never seen salt, its not original, but closest thing to it we could find parts for.it has a 53 flat head in it, was a brand new box w wood floor in mid 80s, but fenders are good used 48s.I sold the 47 fenders by mistake.
$10,000 I live in Whitecourt,Alberta .
...The Mercurys Trucks were unique as they were Canadian only. I have had this one for about 5 years. Completely original unrestored. Runs like a top. I have traced it thru owners to the early 50's. Its been well taken care of all its life. ... And no, its not for sale.
