I got a little more blue shot today, hood, grill and misc. The front fender get shot in two weeks so by the end of April the front half of the truck should be done. I should get these parts cut and buffed this week and I think that I will install the hood before the fender go on.
So.... How hard was the process to get the paint to look like that?
Any tips you found especially useful?

Ben,
It's not hard it just takes a lot of time and it is not cheap either.
Their is 9 coats of Upol primer, 3 coats per aplication. 1 coat of Deltron sealer, 2 coats of PPG Deltron color and 2 coats of PPG Deltron 400 Clear coat. I will have 3K just in materials before I am done. Deltron is $500.00 a gallon, but worth every penny.
The best tip I can give is Break to job into several segments. By the time I got the parts done that I did, this old fart was ready for a nap.
DW,
I just hope that I live long enough to finish my own parts.
Started to cut and buff the hood. After cutting with 1500 wet paper it looked like s___ . The clear had rough spots that did not flatten and by the time it smoothed out we burned through. oh well, I guest that's why I a student at the school not the teacher. I got it all sanded back down and going to shoot it again on Monday. I have a very cool instructor. He is opening the shop on his day off to work with me on Monday and another student that is shooting a 68 Couger in the other booth. No other students, hopefully I can get it right this time.
Well the way I figure it. When I make a mistake on something, that is just another lesson learned. Hopefully I learn not to make that same mistake again.
Your teacher sounds pretty cool. Good luck on the respray!
