Ok... tons of suspension threads on here, and peoples questions and answers lead me to believe everyone is having two seperate conversations without realizing it.
Some believe a good ride in a truck is a stiff ride. I can see this being a case when you're loading heavy sometimes, or you just like being slammed around because that's what you grew up expecting from trucks.
The remaining folks will state that the truck can ride like an f150, being very supple, and ABSORBING imperfections in terrain.
Now, keeping in mind that these trucks don't have much room to articulate in stock form, I'd like mine to be supple, as I'd imagine all the sway away bars will keep it from wandering / tipping too much anyways. This isn't a sports car, and honestly can tow more than i will ever need anyways.
Which route would you go? Bilstein 5100's or rancho 9000 series? Ranch 9000's are adjustable, but the fact that they are adjustable means more complex, and more likely to break down.
Does anyone custom valve 5100's for our truck?
Anyone remove leaves and add air overloads to get the best of both worlds?
Thanks for any discussion... I'm finally at about 80k and am thinking my truck needs another spa day on a weekend to get some upgrades.
I just put RS7000mt's on my 2010 and I am very impressed. I did not get excited about the adjustability of the 9000's.
It was amzing to me how slow and ineffective the stock shocks actually were. I am usually loaded down so I guess I prefer the tighter stiff ride.
Me too! Sharp corners I never take off cruise, and it handles like a car. I toyed with the Idea of the RS9000 and the adjustable controller. I would have just picked a setting and left it there. I would take the 5100 any day of the week.
