I have a 2001 6.8l excursion. while drving a few weeks ago, the gas gauge went slowly to full and the outside temp gauge reads 20 degrees less than actual temp. Is there a common link to both of these? saw a post from 2008 with simular problem, but could not find a response to see if others have had this problem?
no, the problem is on going, the gauge went to full and is stuck there, I would normally think it's in the sending unit in the tank, but with the outside air temp gauge acting up at the same time, makes me believe the two are tied together somehow.hoping someone has had the same problem come up before.
If they were connected, then your trip computer would reset also. A full tank gets you further than a half-full tank, right? Since you are not saying that the trip computer is resetting, im not sure theres any connection. The hot weather lately probably fried a wire.
Honestly, i spent good money having the overhead console fixed after i bought my rig, and to this day I think it was a waste of money. Just my .02

I don't see how those two things are tied together...except maybe in this coincidental situation. I would treat them as two separate issues that happened at the same time.
Could a random electrical issue cause both? I only ask because the instrument cluster quit working in a Voyager I used to own, and the culprit turned out to be the climate control switch. Those hardly seem related to me, but in that case they were.
