day just went from bad to worse! Started heading home from work and didnt even get halfway down the street and lost all gears. This doesnt make any sense to me because i had just driven the truck 3 hours before this happened and the only problem was the reverse issue. The trans. had not acting up what so ever and out of the blue it quits today. Does anyone have any ideas?
I was doing some googling on this issue, and it looks like the filter can cause this, or a weak pump.
I'm hoping it's just a filter issue for you, lord knows transmission work isn't cheap...
Well pulled the pan today and it was full of metal. I was hoping it would be a simple filter issue but im not that lucky. I cant believe im already putting another trans in it after this one only has 30,000 on it since the last rebuild! I just want to say that i appreciate all the help and research everyone did. This site is great!

I'm really sorry to hear this. I went thru 3 local rebuilt transmissions in a two month period before I finally went to BTS. I know it's expensive, but with a lifetime warranty I never have to worry again. Something to think about if your going to keep your truck.
The ford 4r100HD is looking to be a good tranny also, my boss's excursion has one in hers and Peter (duck Fan) can vouch that the most deffinetly feels solid i dont know of anyone that has some miles on them yet or had put alot of power to them.
