Single stage paints have come a long way since Delstar and all of the older paints. The new Urethanes and polyurethanes last a lot longer than the old stuff did. There are lots of semi trucks running around with a million miles on their single-stage paint jobs (from the factory) that still look good. PPG now has a lifetime warranty on their Premium line of paints, which I believe includes Concept Single Stage urethane, when applied by approved shops. Also, as a sidenote, PPG Envirobase waterborne basecoat is a latex base.
the information I had gotten about single stages, were based on the knowledge not from icar, but from classes I attended with a paint manufactor. I heard it for years from an old jobber I had and when I went to a few of their classes. Never denied it was a good product, but they would always tell me it wouldnt last.
I was going by what I was told through classes. Obviously my experience with SS is very low, and I can only vouch for, again, what I had been told about for a few years. I deal with BC/CC each day in the collision industry, not SS. The last thing I put SS on was nearly 5 years ago.
I also stated that I wasnt looking to start a war of words or a pissing match which is why my last posting said what it said, and I sat back and waited for things to cool down before I responded.
If I am wrong, then fine, Im wrong. And Im ok with that. No one is perfect.
