I recently bought a 89' F-150 V8 fuel injected and still had all factory parts in it. Same engine, same tran, the whole thing. For having all the original parts installed it runs great. The only problem i am having is whenever i sit at the stop sign i noticed the engine wants to die. Either it is not getting enough air or the fuel is not sufficient enough. I changed the fuel filter thinking it was getting clogged in there, but it still does it. Took the idle air control valve off and the throttle body off and cleaned the gunk out, but still does it. It acts like it is starving from one or the other and is fighting to stay at idle. When i turn the a/c on it will do it less. I was wondering if anybody else might have had or is having the same problem and might be able to help me out. I never worked on a Ford before only Chevy so i am new to this engine and plus its fuel injected, only worked on carburetor engines. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.
yea original plugs/wires/cap/rotor etc, i changed fuel and air filter. checked the voltages and they check good on the wires. fuel injectors had a little build up but i cleaned those off. no miss fires or arcs. i think its either air or fuel being starved or a combo of both. does it sound like I'm on the right track or no?
yea i figured that but for age the truck is in the wiring is better than i expected but found out it was the timing was bad. the only reason why it was working was that the computer was trying to compensate for the offset of the distributor
