I just spend an hour trying to clean out the fluid and stink out of the covered bed of my F250 from the bottle of Diesel Klean leaking. What a stinking mess!
What do you guys use to haul around that jug? Don't say anything PLASTIC!! I was using 8oz plastic bottles which worked well for my fill-ups but the DK actually warped the bottles and the cap seal disintegrated causing the leak. Those bottles were inside a plastic box with also held the partially filled gallon of DK.
Guess maybe I need some small METAL container??? Anyway what (and where did you get it) do you use?
I buy a 'treats 40 gallon' bottle of DK, refilled it with the right about for 30, and only carry it when I'm going to fill up. For long trips buy the 250 gallon jug, and pack it in a crate so it stays upright.
Depends on the kind of plastic. I re-use smaller DK bottles which can handle the chemicals. Also, if you think that stuff stinks, try some XPD, that stuff is nasty, and seems to attract ants... Opti-Lube Fuel Improver | Oil Fortifier | Block Grease
I pre-fill the smaller DK containers with the right amount of additive and just dump it quickly, never had a spill. The smaller containers have a decent sized neck on them.

I hate to say it but I store mine behind the back seat in a plastic bag. One for the DC and one for the funnel. Well, not from now on. I consider myself lucky, up till now. Tonight I will be putting them in a bin in the bed from now on.
I've been using the same four 32oz bottles for the 5 years that I've had this truck. I buy the 80oz jugs (they ain't a gallon anymore guys) and put 16oz in each 32oz bottle. The caps wear out, but the cap that comes on each 80oz jug is the same cap, so swap them out each time you finish a jug.
Since I only put 16oz in each 32oz bottle, you won't spill a drop pouring it in the tank.
I'm using Opti-Lube now instead of DK, and still using those same 32oz bottles.
No way would I put any of this stuff in the cab. It goes in the bed, and rides in an old milk crate.
I use these fuel bottles that you can get at any camping supply store.
They also sell replacement caps and o-rings if you need them.
I've been using the same 4 bottles for Diesel Kleen for 5 years no problems.
I've also been using my camping ones for over 15yrs no issues, and I have a few that I use for roofing wash and primer and no issues either -- same bottles for roofing chemicals for over 12 years.
Yeah that stuff is stinky and hard to clean, had same prob then I began to use some small rope 1/8' to tie the big bottle so that it is just barely free hanging. Gravity and normal road bounce tightens the knot and it sits upright. I refill the small bottle I have at the station in case I spill it I dont wreck MY driveway and just clean up with station towels.
additionaly though the Ford stuff I picked up today at the dealer was $9.99 and treats 120 gals. "Says" it does all the same stuff as DK does and about the same size bottle. Just put it in 3 miles ago so I cant say if there is noticeable difference or not yet.

you need to have your gratitude recalibrated, so your head
doesn't hurt.
gratitude attack #1:
it wasn't in the cab of the truck
gratitude attack #2:
it wasn't rancid bong water spilled on the carpet of your
friends '69 camaro, in 1972.
on prom night.
gratitude attack #3
it wasn't a flat of blood eggs from the egg ranch, thrown thru the
open passenger window, flying across the '69 camaro,
and hitting the closed window on the drivers side.
on the same prom night.
gratitude attack #4
you didn't have to try to explain to the police officers, while
cleaning your car at the coin op car wash, while drunk, that
neither of you knew who owned the loaded colt python under
the drivers seat. we really didn't know, either.
on the same prom night.
it was one of those sort of nights.
feeling better now?
yes, sir, that stuff is FOUL.
i hadn't thought of the aluminum fuel bottles, but if they
had a buna-n o ring, they should be ok.....
i may have to explore REI tomorrow morning... i have been
wondering how to carry that crap myself.
I use old seafoam bottles that hold 16 oz for my fleet trucks. old ford cetane additive clear 20oz bottle with increments, and an 8oz protein bottle. All 3 have good resealable caps.
If I just use Diesel kleen in my f350 I just use the 8oz protein bottle.
