to get rid of that dk smell you'll need to do this......drive down the road really really fast.....when you see a skunk.....run it over...smell gone....ENJOY!
Because of the lubricity study. I think it is better for the injectors.
if it's the same study that i read, hands away soy biodoesel provides
better lubrication than any of this stuff... but there is no place
on the west coast to get it, unless i want to buy a railcar full of it.

Yeah, but BioD has its own risks and downsides, so I don't want to run it even if it were available.
I stuck with DK for years because I wanted the Cetane boost, and didn't really care about lubricity. The most attractive thing about it was easy availability. ULSD is supposed to have all the lube needed. But after having injector problems, I changed my mind on that. The DK and using 5W/40 synthetic did not save my injectors. That doesn't mean either is a bad product, it just didn't work for me. So I decided to try the Opti-lube, went back to 15W/40 oil and adding AR9100. Is all that going to make any difference? Hopefully I'll never really know. But the truck is running great on it right now.
I am not knocking DK. Just doing something different, that's all.

understand... lube interests me more than cetane, to be honest.
where are you getting opti lube? i found one person who sells it
in Placentia, i think... not a lot of people around here sell it.
I use the Lucas fuel treatment bottles, I just add 4 oz of Motorcraft treatment to them. The bottles are small and have a long neck so no funnel needed.

That's the downside. You have to order it direct. They do list some resellers, but not close enough to me. I just order it by the gallon, no pumps or bottles. I think it is about $45, and I run 16oz per tankfull. So 8 tankfulls per gallon.

I'm coming around to that position too. Especially since here in CA we have better grade diesel than in some southern states.
