Will this one work? I like the Lisle tools and this is a lot cheaper than the other options. I found something about how they changed the design of the IPR in 2005 so I wasn't sure if this tool would work on my 2006.
Same one I used. Gotta love Amazon Prime, had it in two days just in time for the job
I love Prime. Just ordered it. Thanks everyone else for the advice - I am a tool junkie and sometimes need to be reigned in. It is such a pain in the a$$ to struggle for an hour, then see someone with just the right tool do it in 30sec. I am getting prepared to try the STC repair myself - it will be (by far) my biggest undertaking yet.
The Lisle IPR socket will work fine on your '06 and the ridge on the outside makes it small enough to work on the earlier engines also. You will need a torque wrench with a small head to clear the intake manifold (if it's in there), or put the calibrated elbow to it. STC aint too bad you can do it. Some bolts are stubborn to get out and a couple are stupid hard to get to but not that bad of a job overall.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I don't do anything quick so it will probably be another month ordering parts, then I'll watch a few videos and read the manual, read a boat load of posts, then I'll psych myself up and dive in. I'm flushing the coolant first, to see if I need to do the oil cooler as well. Just the flush will probably take the better part of a weekend - my wife says I really know how to make a project out of it - Dan
