How does one get this apart? I pulled, tapped with a hammer, etc. Seems to hit a point then stop. 79 F350 2wd.
There are three u-joints, front of driveshaft, center of driveshaft and rear of driveshaft where it connects to the companion flange of the rear end.
The center slip yoke is connected to the front (center) u-joint of the rear driveshaft.
The nose of the slip yoke is pressed into the bearing of the driveshaft's center support, can be a real b!tch to remove.
By this stage of the game, the slip yoke is probably badly scored (grooved). This causes the yoke to become hung up when trying to remove it from the bearing.
Psquared, I was looking at the picture again, have you uscrewed the collar that is at the end of the yoke?
There is a threaded collar, splined washer and cork seal on the end of the yoke.
I didn't do anything to it except tug, then post. From some reading, I may not even need this driveshaft with a center support, as I have a standard cab short bed. (Working on a 4 speed conversion and I jumped in with both feet.)

I spotted that also. Take the collar off and it should come right out. If the spline is okay as ND said.
