my cousin has a 1998 ford explorer and for some reason its not starting the alarm was tripped in it and the battery was disconnected and it sat for a week and now it wont start the fuel pump comes on the truck fired when he let the key back but he shut it off and it wouldnt start again could use some advice thanks truck has the 6 cyclinder and is automatic
i went to my cousins today the explorer is an eddie bauer edition its got the 4.0 sohc motor which is suppose to have 60,000 on it i checked spark and the spark isnt a bright blue its more of a bright orange i tried using starting fluid in the throttle body the truck would not fire off of it the trucks turning over relativily fast i also checked the schrader valve on the fuel rail and it only dribbeld fuel out wasnt a powerful burst of fuel the fuel pump does prime i could really use the help ive seen there has been alot of people reading this any help would be appricated would love to see my cousins truck run again thankyou
If it wouldn't start by shooting ether into the throttle body, then I doubt if your problem is fuel related. Could be the camshaft position sensor. There should be many posts on this on the forum. Do a search.
The fuel pump should prime for two soconds when the key is turned on. Is the theft light flashing when the key is turned on? If it is you have a PATS problem.
