Cool Need help with 88 B2

Ive owned the truck for about a 1 1/2 yrs. Have had nothing but problems with it. Something goes wrong i fix it. Love the truck. But at this point im tempted to get rid of it. Right now im having problems keeping it running. Runs fine in park, neutral, reverse. As soon as i put it in drive and try to go it dies on me. Then it wont start again unless i let it sit for couple hours. Last time i had this problem it was the ignition control module. Well i broke it tryin to get it off to go test it so had to replace it anyway. Wasnt the problem. I also needed a new Idle air control valve. Has needed one for awhile. All that really fixed was the spuratic idle i had. Im kinda lost. I know tranny is fine. Just had it rebuilt. Coil maybe? but why only drive? Any help or advise would be much appreciated! Thanks!

what about the torque convertor lockup clutch? it may b stuck in the lock position. one way to test it would be to jack up the rear wheels in 2wd and with a fairly high idle, put it in d.
