So i was driving my truck today. Fuel filter light came on, it detects restriction. Truck was surging, idle too high, running rough.

Now the funny thing is i just replaced the fuel filter not to long ago. I did drain it thinking it may be water since i have no water in fuel sensor.

Still runs the same. Is it possible to clog a fuel filter in a 3 month time period?

I suppose it could be i have air intrusion too.

 

Surging is often a symptom of low fuel or excess air, when a severely plugged filter just shuts down or won't start. Crank it over and see what you get at the schrader valve, might give you an idea what's going on.

 

Yup i usually get this when its low of fuel. I did just fill up today thinking that was the problem as it usually is.

I'll try the valve and let it run a bit longer and see what it does.

Run it for a bit. Drove it up the street and it nearly died on me. But after that it seems to be running like normal. Was really hard to start. It usually just pops off with tap of the key. Shut it off and back on a few times. pops off like normal. Letting it sit for awhile and it should answer my question.
