Looking for ideas on a truck my father recently bought. 2002 F250 7.3L Auto CCSB, 189K miles. Hutch/Harpoon/Pre-pump Filter. Full and clean trans oil, no leaks anywhere (engine or trans).
When starting out (cold), the truck runs like a turtle. The engine RPM runs to 1500, but the ground speed increase is extremely slow. Actually acts like you are creeping.
When starting out (engine warmed / hot), the trans pushes a little better, but essentially the same acceleration.
The truck will eventually get to speed, it just takes a LOOOONG time. My father thinks it is stuck is OD, but the OD off light will not go out.
Is this a controller issue or could this be more involved?
I'm flying blind with the trans here, guys, so any thoughts or tests would help.
The first step is ALWAYS get the codes read. The places that read codes free can't read the codes you'll need, so you need to go to a good independent shop or a Ford dealer.
Can't he find someone with A/E, it is my understanding it will read all the codes. If it doesn't I'm glad I have not got one yet. (waiting to get a new laptop, last one died)
