Mine used to do this all the time, but it was the spring catching the side of the ip.

the cable is sawing its way into the casing and will break at the worst possible moment. A friend in alaska had his break as he was taking his floatplane out of the lake. So I sat on the fender and ran the throttle, that was fun on an icy ramp.

i had one break 300 miles from home. i always keep a set of small (3 inch) vice grip pliers in the center console. snapped them under the fuel pedal and away i went. ran it that way for 2 weeks before i finally got around to putting the new cable in.
the second one broke rite where it went through the firewall. i used a piece of baling wire to get home that time.
