the pump I borrowed was a Holley volumax they dont even make it any more, guy had it setting around for year's and he never used it so it was worth a shot.... id like a Aeromotive but that's a bit more than im gonna drop on one right now, got another holley ordered that's what i had the best luck with.. it may need feed the other engine when i get it in, but it will go to another project then and ill order a aeromotive
By the time you buy 2 or 3 barely adequate, pos holleys you can buy one good pump that is more than enough with room to grow.
I understand the $$$ thing though. The Holley black pumps should be good for a mild 429/460 under 5500 rpm. I used to have a calculator for required gpm for a given engine. Ill post it up if I can find it.
Well as it stand's i made the jump to buy what was supposed to be a "good" pump and it back fired on me badely. I ran a holley blue on my old engine it ran for 2 year's and was used when i bought it it feed the truck fine up to the 6200 i turnt it, it was working good still when i blew the engine and i parked the truck for 2 year's and it sat with old nasty fuel in it and being the low point in water in it ended up in the pump and it rusted up. and the new project is gonna be a getting a mild engine aswell so the holley should be fine for it, i was actually planning on buying a aeromotive when i step up.
here is the pass's from last night.
the second pass aslong as i kept the RPM's below 2500 it did fine, then i let it come to a idle and it turned up good again for a minute
