Found it......newb bashing....not 6 months old..........
PS running a 9" with 38's should clue you in to why the yoke let go.
you must not read to well.... It was front out put shaft on the 205 transfer case the only thing i ever damaged on my 9" was spider gear's and that was fixed with a spool,
PS my Uncle has a engine dyno'd with the juicy jug in the 2000hp range, he runs 36" paddles and has run 44" cut boggers and drops the trans brake at 6000Rpm.....
I know a bunch of people running a 9" with 39.5 cuts that are pushing in the 700-1000 hp range, Kjett on here being one of them, not to mention a guy i race with does it in a 5000# truck.....
I have seen more than one 9" walk the pinion out of the front of the housing with stock or near stock power levels. It happens in drag racing as well, that is why aftermarket center sections and pinion supports exist, the average drag race 9" has considerable upgrades over a stock one.
Why they and 44's and even 10 bolts live in mud drag rigs even with paddles is simple, once you get past around the 500 hp mark you have enough power to break the tires loose and keep them spinning, and spinning tires don't break parts.
I did this with a turboed 6.9 and 33's... Thats maybe 200 hp...
On the topic of breaking rear ends. Whats the life expectancy of a 14B,10.25,10.50 and D-60 front. (havent found a rear yet so still open) with some 46's? Wasnt wanting something that big, but price dictates. Mostly playin / huntin trails but it will get abused. Will stock live, do i need axles, or centers, or are 1-ton axles just too light? 400whp+ 800wtq+ auto trans.

Thanks....you are right....it is all about the wheel slip..... that nobody seems to understand.
I know one 18 year old that broke 3 9's in the exact same way with a stock 300 and 33's.
Hairyboxnoogle: You will want to chromo that D60, I was hurting stock 60 stub shafts all summer(I twisted but didn't break at least one every trip) with 425/505 and 4.10 gears with 44's. The rear, maybe a set of aftermarket shafts, thats about it, the Sterlings and 14B are beef.
If you were talking rock crawling I would be pointing you directly to Rocks.
