Our good friend Code P0340
my 2006 Escape 3.0L started sounding and running terrible. It threw the code and I just replaced the sensor. No dice. Trouble is, I am still getting the same code with the new sensor. Hard to move on with no indication of what is going on there.
When it runs it sounds like a diesel, and every so often I can hear a pop or clank, like something is stuck, wanting to actuate but can't??
Any ideas? I tried to search but I didn't find the same situation as mine.

The Camshaft Position Sensor is probably the most difficult sensor to replace.
With that said, did you follow the re installation process correctly?
Did you disconnect the negative battery cable prior to working on the truck?
If so, check wiring and connectors to camshaft sensor along with the
crankshaft position sensor.
Also, you may need to check the PCM.
