I want a small lift and for my excursion to ride and handle better. I also want to continue to park it in the garage. The roofline is 76 inches And the opening isn't huge 84 inches.
What is the lift you get from these springs? 3 inches?
Also am I correct in understanding after the spring install the excursion was no longer level as of passenger and driver?
What are the part numbers needed for the swap?
I went to 4wheelparts and they weren't much help. Only offer a 4 inch lift costing a grand or more.
I am going to order the 4" blocks and u-bolts to level mine out. As you know, mine sits a little low in the rear with a full tank of fuel. Just not the look I like. I used to say that the Hellwig was the best mod I'd ever done to the X. Now I know the spring change is the best I've done. The ride is so much better, not to mention the handling. Of course, the Hellwig still helps. Like many others have said, I wonder how successful the X would've been had it had decent springs, sway bar and a couple of our other 'favorite' mods we've done on here. I know it was killed by Bill Ford with his 'green' ways, but I still can't help but wonder.
What is the hellwig mod you refer to? sway bars? which ones?
What springs did you go with?
Front?
Rear?
Do you tow with it?
I tow a 10k 33ft camper. I want a lift and still be able to park in my garage with a 7ft opening. Wondering if this is the solution that I need.

With the V/B swap you'll have at least an inch to spare.
What is the lift you get from these springs? 3 inches?.
Depends on how saggy your front ones are. I got 1.75'' with my used V's; others get more. Rear won't change much unless you do the Mod-B or change the rear block.
Also am I correct in understanding after the spring install the excursion was no longer level as of passenger and driver?.
My passenger and drivers side were within 3/8'' of each other.

Also am I correct in understanding after the spring install the excursion was no longer level as of passenger and driver? All vehicles vary somewhat, no more or less than pre-spring swap here.

You will get much better advice and help here than they could ever hope to offer!

What springs did you go with?
Front? V code fronts from a PSD SuperDuty truck will tighten things up and give less than 2".
Rear? Modded B code rears from a SD truck will do the same.
Do you tow with it? I added modded X/B codes to mine to improve towing performance, 39' 10k TT here. The spring swap transformed the EX into a completely different vehicle, it's a towing dream now!

Thank you Tom for answering....been away from the forum most of the last two days. But Yes, what Tom said! I went with V/Bs...long story, but turned out better than I could've imagined.
This is a good description with pics on the spring exchange
I don't like pointing people to that thread because the person who put it together doesn't instruct people to pull the front bumper in order to get access to the front spring eye bolt.
