Pic of the destruction, I drilled holes in the ends of the springs and reused 4 of the plastic pads from my old G code spring pack, make sure your drill bits are nice and sharp and start with a smaller pilot hole before stepping up to the 9/16"
Just had my X and Bs put in, and love the new height. The stock fronts were inverted and only 37.5 " to the flare. I love the new stance on the road and the ride is really nice. Also, I think I got a good price for the labor (at $260).

That is a good price for doing all 4 springs. Bet its an entirely different truck now. Did you have the B's modded or did they get installed as they were?

That's a crazy idea, it will never work!
Hey, thats a good lookin buggy you got there too!
JumpinJoe, thats a great price on a 4 spring installation!

I printed out the color pictured instructions on the B mod for the mechanic, and he said he'd rather add blocks to the back (I did give him the block monies on the side). Guess I can now take the old springs and get scrap metal $.

I totally agree, that was a great price. I ain't much a gear-head, so changing the rotors/calipers/pads are as exotic as I can handle - left it to a pro. Later today (after the coffee kicks in) I will give a shout out to the shop here :-)

What is the finished ride quality like with the modded X codes? What shocks aren't you using?
I am looking for a set of the over loads to do this to my V codes that I will be installing later this month or early February. I will be doing modded Bs in the rear with 5" blocks. So I will be needing a bit more up front. I hope to end up with around 4" total up front and 5 in the rear over where I am now... Well see how it works out....

Youre right, it didnt work out at all, I wanted to lower my EX and have it ride on the bumpstops with really squishy springs but your X code mod actually did the opposite, Im not Happy........ There's more info one page back in this thread too
Thanks for the compliments, I loved this truck when I bought it last February, its almost perfect now. Just gotta watch I dont put too many miles on her, but at 13 years old and only 95k got a long way to go......
Garry, thanks, very happy with this truck now, just need to get some money to swap in a set of black American Racing Mojave's and she'll be set.
Ride with the modded X code is great, nice firm and solid, not harsh at all, nice thing is, if you dont like the ride, the overload is easily removed. Guessing with the overloads under a V code pack you will be around the same height and ride as an unmodded X code, the rear on mine is a modded B code only and stock EX blocks.
Shocks are Bilstein Heavy Duty's for stock height EX. That was first thing I did when I bought this truck in February to "cure" handling issues before I seen all the X,B,V code stuff. Wanted the Bilstein 5100's but they arent available for stock height EX. So far so good, I wasnt sure if they would be too short up front because of my added ride height but there doesnt seem to be any signs of over extension. If these fail or when they wear out Im putting 5100's under there.

That is a good price. Although I did my own, another friend is looking to do his. May just PM you if he wants the number.
I am going to order the 4" blocks and u-bolts to level mine out. As you know, mine sits a little low in the rear with a full tank of fuel. Just not the look I like. I used to say that the Hellwig was the best mod I'd ever done to the X. Now I know the spring change is the best I've done. The ride is so much better, not to mention the handling. Of course, the Hellwig still helps. Like many others have said, I wonder how successful the X would've been had it had decent springs, sway bar and a couple of our other 'favorite' mods we've done on here. I know it was killed by Bill Ford with his 'green' ways, but I still can't help but wonder.
