Transfer case yoke moving??

How much should the rear yoke on the transfer case move in and out? If at all? When I jump up and down on the bumper the yoke moves in and out about 1/8 inch and I hear a clunk.. ( note I replaced the driveshaft, so its not the splines on it )

It shouldn't move AT ALL.

Tighten the nut to the spec in the Haynes manual or here.

Transfer case yoke moving??

My 96 does the same thing 1/8 inch movement. The nut was tight. When I was rebuilding the trans I bought a brand new 1356 and it has the same play. And this is a brand new unit not rebuilt. Some people say the play is normal some don't. I put a Jasper unit in a customers bronco the other day and there was no play at all.
