Doesn't sound normal. Crawl under it and see if you can figure out if the noise is internal or not. If it's internal, it's probably going to have to come out.
I have it sitting on my workbench I'm in the middle of a clutch job,(I keep getting rained out) the noise is definately internal. It is very pronounced when I rotate the yoke back and forth. If this is a problem should I have it rebuilt or trade it in? thanks for the reply!
This is a normal noise for the BW 1345 - I cracked mine open to reseal, and it's the oil pump. The oil pump is wrapped around the output shaft, and there is a fork in the case that prevents the pump from spinning on the shaft. What you're hearing is the nipple on the pump jumping back and forth between the ends of the fork. As far as I can see, this was never meant to be a "tight" fit. You'll only hear it when it's on the bench, or when you're rotating the shaft back and forth.
that makes me feel a little better. I was about to take it to a shop to get it checked out but I think I'll pop it back on and drive it till it breaks. thanks for the reply!
