Started a couple of weeks ago. Drove the truck to work just fine. Went to leave and started up fine but died right away. Finally got it running enough to pull it over by the shop door. Died when I stopped. I replaced the fuel filter and ran fine. Drove around town, made a few stops and went home. Next day went to start it and it would fire but die, I could keep it running if I kept giving it gas. It stumbled and ran like it was only firing on half the cylinders. Shut it off and I could smell gas like it's flooding out. It did this for a couple of days and had it towed to a mechanic. He had it for 2 1/2 days and it started and ran fine for him the entire time he had it. He thought maybe the distributor pick up was going bad. i am replacing the distributor this weekend. i have had the truck home for a week now. I go out and start it and drive around a few blocks and it seems to be running ok. Last night I went out and drove it around the block. When i was coming up to an intersection and let off the gas pedal to stop I noticed the rpm guage dip way down and come back up to idle. I didn't really feel the motor stumble but it could have. I drove it the last block home just fine. I pulled the ignition module out and had it tested, ok. Does this sound like a distributor issue? Has anyone had this happen?
Thanks

I actually saw your link on another thread and it's on my list of possibles.
Thanks
You betcha' and yes, do consider it as a priority/possibility.
You've already taken it to a mechanic and I doubt he removed the EEC to check it........maybe you should "take the bull by the horns" and do that visual check yourself.
